Pirra's third single of the year ‘Drifting’ merges an upbeat danceable feel, with a dark and ambient atmosphere. The track continuously builds on the Aussie quartet's use of compelling synth stabs, addictive bass leads, entrancing hi-hat shuffles, that is brought to life with the radiant and impassioned vocals of Pirra vocalist, Jess Beck.

‘Funnily enough, I started writing this song on my laptop as I was drifting out during a casual job I had at the time. While speeches were happening I was keyboard bashing my way through the bassline and drums which helped transport me to another place in time.’ Curtis

Going from strength to strength in what has been a pivotal year for the four-piece band, which included the release of their previous two singles ‘Cornetto’ and ‘Never Apart’, the latter consisting of the production work from none other than PNAU’s Sam Littlemore as part of Jack Daniels’ Behind the Scenes series / Pedestrian TV, this record has so far been their standout release to date, amassing nearly 1000 global radio spins including a plethora of Triple J Unearthed spins.

Described by Triple J’s Declan Bryne as ‘Pure festival joy’ and ‘like the
launch of a bottle rocket’ by Dave Ruby Howe, ‘Never Apart’ is still shooting it’s way up Unearthed main charts, and has most recently struck gold with AMRAP by securing a No. 1 spot on their regional chart for over a week, providing the bands’ first entry to Triple J’s ‘Artists of the Week’, inclusions on key Spotify playlists and a wide array of press / PR coverage which has helped sky rocket Pirra to the forefront of Australia’ most exciting acts.
